Programs & Services

Cardiopulmonary Program
Promise Hospital of Miss Lou specializes in comprehensive rehabilitative cardiopulmonary care for adult and geriatric patients with difficulty breathing due to complex and unresolved acute illnesses, as well as multi-organ failure, diseases, complications or severe injury.
Most of our patients in the cardiopulmonary program are transferred from an ICU or general medical and surgical beds in short-term acute care (STAC) hospitals because they are in need of a longer acute hospital recovery period to reach their full recovery potential.
These include patients:
• who are on life support and require ventilator weaning and management,
• with ARDS, COPD, neuromuscular disease, or chronic lung problems, such as asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema, lung fibrosis, pneumonia, and lung cancer, or
• who are recovering from a heart attack or accidents.
Upon physician order, our in-patient cardiopulmonary/respiratory therapeutic services are provided by Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCPs) on a 24-hour, 7-days-a-week basis, with diagnostic procedures scheduled as needed. RCPs - who include both registered respiratory therapists and certified respiratory therapists - work under the direction of a board certified physician and medical director to deliver quality cardiopulmonary/respiratory care.

Advanced Wound Care Program
We provide a collaborative state-of-the-art skin and wound care management program dedicated to preventing, as well as restoring and maintaining skin integrity for patients suffering from chronic, non-healing wounds.
We utilize both skill and application of wound care to treat compromised skin integrity and apply knowledge and understanding of wound care in an interdisciplinary manner. We also provide team intervention to promote and hasten the healing process.
Patients admitted to our inpatient wound care program are referred by a physician and have been identified as at risk for compromised skin integrity due to complex medical conditions.
